Reference 5405BR uses the letter code Breguet prints on case backs and product pages. The letters name the case metal: BA for yellow gold, BB for white gold, BR for rose gold, ST for steel, PT for platinum. A 5405BR is a rose gold case. Breguet product pages show the same two-letter pattern on current references.
Replica sellers reuse the code. Listings put "5405BR" next to words such as 1:1, super clone, or first copy. Those words describe an appearance claim. They do not name a factory, a movement, or a country of origin.
What replica listings claim
- Case size matched to the original, stated to 0.1 mm.
- Rose gold plating on a steel case, or a solid rose gold case.
- Sapphire crystal, with coating on one side or two.
- "Swiss movement" or "Asian clone movement".
Solid gold on a clone is rare. It pushes the price past $1,000 and few sellers stock it.
Movement
Low-cost builds run on quartz. Mid-range builds use Asian automatic calibers from Seagull, Hangzhou, or Dandong, or a Miyota 9015 from Japan. Watches with extra functions such as a calendar or a tourbillon hide a modified base caliber under decorative plates in most builds. Ask for a movement photo with the balance visible and the caliber number.
"Swiss made" is a regulated term. Swiss law requires at least 60 percent of production costs to be incurred in Switzerland, and the movement must be Swiss. A watch with an Asian caliber fails that test, whatever the listing says.
Dial, hands, and case finish
Breguet uses Breguet hands, a fluted caseband, and engine-turned guilloché. Guilloché on clones is stamped or printed, not cut. Ask for a magnified dial photo and check the pattern under raking light. Breguet numerals are slim with fine serifs. Printed copies show thick strokes and uneven serifs.
Reported prices
Reported prices from buyers: quartz copies $50 to $150. Automatic copies with a claimed 1:1 case $250 to $600. Builds with gold plating, a cloned dial, and an adjusted movement $700 and up. Below $200 you will not find a mechanical watch with the case weight of the original.
Checks before you pay
- Weight. Ask for a scale photo. A rose gold dress watch of 40 mm weighs far more than a plated steel copy.
- Caseback engraving. Reference, case number, hallmarks. Real gold carries a hallmark.
- Movement photo and a timegrapher reading.
- Crown action and the water resistance claim.
- Return policy in writing, and a payment method with chargeback rights.
US law and import
Counterfeit watches are illegal to import and to sell in the United States. US Customs and Border Protection seizes shipments of counterfeit goods, watches included, and publishes annual seizure figures. A personal-use order can still be seized, and the payment is lost.

Public spec sheets for the 5405BR are not consistent across dealer listings. Movement, case size, and functions for the original should be confirmed at a Breguet boutique, an auction archive, or the maker's own records before you compare a replica to it.
